How long for an external hemorrhoid lump to go away? Re: How long for an external hemorrhoid lump to go away? It will go away on its own. Find a diet that does not cause straining. Do not sit on the toilet more than a couple of minutes and do not strain. I have been using the store brand flushable wipes even after the hemorrhoid has gone down. They are not very expensive and are much better than toilet paper.
I went to see a surgeon about my external hemorrhoid. He told me that surgery would cause more pain than gain since a lot of times the surgery will leave scar tissue and cause a strain on the other veins. There is no guarantee that surgery will help anything.
It may cause other veins to expand. Your hemorrhoid will clear up on its own. If you want to, get a referral to a surgeon and have them look at it to ease your mind. The hemorrhoid will never go back to a normal state. It will always be expanded to a certain degree when sitting or straining. I took away from the surgeon that from his experience that doing surgery on an external hemorrhoid is not a good idea and may open up a whole new set of problems. It takes a few weeks for it to start getting better. Maybe in 6 weeks it will be significantly better. I think it was around 3 months before it really went down as much as it was going to.
Of course it still expands some when sitting. Sometimes while standing a long time it can expand some. I can tell its there but it really doesn’t bother me much at all. From what I have heard about surgery and talking to my doctor and my surgeon, surgery is not a very good idea for an external hemorrhoid. Just quit using dry toilet paper. If you are out somewhere without flushable wipes then wet down some toilet paper. Carrying the zip lock bag with a couple of flushable wipes is a habit now for me.
Try not to use any prescription creams or over the counter creams. They thin the skin over time and can make things worse in the future. A thin coating of vaseline helped me some. I looked over the internet for a long time to find this post. I’m replying hoping that when people search they’ll be able to find this. I had exactly this: external hemorrhoid. I tried the bath and changing diet. I threw up 3 or 4 times that day and I had diarrhea around 4 times that day too.
So, I think it takes a week to develop. Then it hurts and is aggravating. Week 1: Something happened and the hemorrhoid begins to develop. Week 4-6: I forgot I had it. Everything looks normal on my body now. My external purple lump demon went away after about 8 days.
I am on a roll of about 6 days of perfect bathroom visits. I will just keep pasting my personal instruction list. Here is my typical day when things are bad down there for Hems or Fissures. I Get out of shower and put a small amount of bag balm up my kazoo for later ease in BM. I find it is ten times better than anything else. One morning tea sprinkled with Cinnamon and some instant Ginger Crystals and a morning coffee.
In my opinion I believe this is worse than waiting to long. Because my body will not want to completely evacuate. I feel I really have to go. Usually in the late morning before lunch I do the deed. I have started pushing up the heels and elevating my knees a bit. This does rally help angle it out better. For Dinner I have a normal serving of Meat, Pasta, and a larger serving of a vegetable. Summer time we have Zucchini mostly. I do not have RED meatalways turkey, chicken or pork.
