Paying attention to your phone instead of your surroundings is dangerous, especially while driving. Here are some creative and original answers: The chicken crossed the road. But why did the chicken cross the road? Glycerol can be made without peanut oil as well. Please forward this error screen to orion1. Disabling it will result in some disabled or missing features. I’ve even recommended it to the nurse and my doctor. Before I read the Fiber Menace book, I was unknowingly doing all the harmful things such as using psyllium husk, drinking 3. 0 liters of water a day, consuming large amounts of oatmeal, hummus, whole grain bread, high fiber fruits and vegetables, and desperately exercising all in hopes of pooping pain free. Konstantin’s book armed me with the right information and gave me the confidence to apply that knowledge. Thank goodness I found this book in time.
I really hope this review encourages people to try the advice in this book. I also bought a digital food scale and got in to the habit of weighing, proportioning, and tracking how much fiber, vitamins, minerals, and calories I consume in a day. Good luck and if you are suffering, I hope you get to the point where you actually look forward to eating and pooping and get your life back! The author relies too heavily on scare tactics and maligns competing products such as prunes and MiraLAX which I find to be a turnoff. If what he is preaching and selling are good and valuable this tactic should not be necessary despite being opposed to conventional medical wisdom. I bought the book precisely because it is contrarian. Unfortunately, sorbitol also tends to accumulate in the cells, causing nerve damage, blindness, deafness, heart attacks, strokes, and kidney damage.
Because excess glucose inside the cells gets converted to sorbitol too, consuming those concentrated juices is particularly dangerous for people who are already likely to have elevated blood sugar: the overweight, pre-diabetic, or diabetic who are still consuming unrestricted carbohydrates. My research on the web says that sorbitol is mostly harmless. One woman reported problems but from the quantity of sorbitol involved I calculated she was eating 30 or more prunes a day. The severe dangers mentioned by the author seem to be restricted to diabetics, and if memory serves me, diabetics in advanced stages. Why would Monastyrsky attack violently two popular laxatives, prunes and MiraLAX? The subject of the book is resolving constipation. The functional or actionable part of the book is Chapter 11, Avoiding the Perils of Transition.
When someone gets as constipated as I did they don’t need scare tactics to look for help! A self designed change in diet cured my insulin resistance and the fallout from it, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, etc. A healthier diet designed for how we evolved into omnivores should also cure constipation. Accepted medical lore about type 2 diabetes, IBS, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, and leaky gut being chronic is WRONG, they are reversible with proper diet. In four years a self designed change in diet did! One problem with modern medicine is the specialization.
A holistic approach would be much better but the amount of knowledge required probably would overwhelm most humans. It’s been three weeks since I read the book. Since the advice that “too much fiber is bad for you” made sense I reduced my consumption of fiber. I stopped using flax seed and I stopped eating beans, split peas, lentils, and chick peas replacing the protein with meat and fish. My consumption of fruits, green vegetables, oatmeal, and pasta has remained the same. The improvement of my bowel movements has been remarkable. We are omnivores which means we are built to deal with a certain amount of fiber, neither too much nor too little.
